Here's another Ripper/Trek connection. Nicholas Meyer wrote the screenplay for and directed Time After Time. A movie in which H.G. Wells builds a time machine which he must use to search for Jack The Ripper in the 1970s. It starred Malcolm McDowell (Star Trek: Generations and David Warner, Star Trek: The Final Frontier and Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a look. I haven't seen it in ages, but remember really enjoying it.

I read this book back when it came out, so my memory of the story is dim at best, but I do recall thinking it was one of the best Trek novels I had read. You may not know, given that the quality of Next Gen and other series novels tends to be quite good, but in the early days of Star Trek novels the quality was...ahem...uneven. Should you ever want to see exactly what I mean pick up a copy of How Much for Just The Planet. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.

Wow, I read this years ago and forgot all about it until you mentioned it here. I have to go read this again. You're right - it's the best exploration of Vulcan the series (books, movies, shows, etc.) ever offered up.

I always wanted a tricorder, or a communicator. You know, a hand-held electronic device that could tell me where I am, give me information, let me talk to other people, beep a little bit and light up. Man, that would be cool. Oh, wait.

I still dream of a phaser. I can picture the scene:

Me: Class, settle down or I will set this thing for wide field stun.

Them: silence.

The Voyager uniform looks really good. I've never had the cojones to actually get a uniform, but if I did it would be the Wrath of Khan style one. Probably sweat to death in it, but they looked sweet! :-)

While I have yet to read the graphic novel, the trailer looks pretty cool. Fox probably just wants a piece of the pie. Once WB pays them off everything will go swimmingly.
